Very good. You all did very well. There might be others (I don't catch them all), but I only noticed one
small mistake, probably more a reflexive error than a true misreading. So it was very, very good.
Easy, ain't it?
But, cheer up, it gets a lot, lot harder. Quickly.
And weirder, too.
One of you is wri
ting 'z' for 's' which is OK. The two were distinct sounds in Old Egyptian, but by the time Middle
Egyptian came into vogue they seem to have merged into 's'. Nevertheless, the words which originally
had the 'z' sound retained the original spelling probably mostly because it had become traditional to
spell them that way. At the present time distinguishing it probably helps you to remember the original
hieroglyphic spelling. It seems that most Egyptologists use 's' in both cases. But 'z' is OK.
